Mathematics

GUbridge Math is a 1 year program designed to ensure that students are equipped with mathematical understanding and skills necessary to meet cognitive and practical requirements of post-secondary studies. Students registered into Engineering and Science majors take Pure Math courses. Those in UPAD, IBSM and Logistics majors take Applied Math courses. These two streams are taught 6 hours per week. Students tested below the 3.5 equivalent of IELTS (A1 – A2 OOPT CEFR Score) will have an additional Math Vocabulary course. This course is taught 1 hour per week, reinforcing the vocabulary with practice in arithmetic and basic algebra.

Overall Programme View

The academic year has two semesters of sixteen teaching weeks each. All Students must take their relevant Pure or Applied stream Math Course of level 1 & 2. A pass in both the math level 1 & 2 with an overall of 50% is a requirement for admission to the bachelor programme. The math course is designed and delivered through lecture and interactive class materials, addresses the acquisition of selected key basic, pure and applied mathematical principles. The course focuses on imparting knowledge but also allows for practice in problem solving and gives ‘real-life’ contexts for the application of that knowledge.
